Back in January my composition inspired by the natural and majestic soundscape of Pembrokeshire titled ‘Killing Time’, featuring prepared knitting needles triggering sound snippets as tiny as a single leaf of a tree, was staged at the VIP Gala Dinner of Vogue Knitting Live! in New York.
The performance was a great success! As niche as new classical music is, the piece was welcomed with great enthusiasm because of how it integrated the knitting community into the work. During the daytime event visitors could try the prepared knitting needles for themselves and to my surprise enthusiasts were queuing the whole day to have a go. It was fabulous to see how engaged and inventive the audience were with the concept of creating intricate sonic textural patterns of the tiny sound samples.Bernhard Fasenfest made a fabulous great little video. Here’s what everyone thought of it.
This is a promotional video: if this is something you would like for your company or do you think you might know someone who would be interested, please share far and wide. Thank you!
