Sonic Illumination

Sonic Illumination

“sounds like an object’s aura” (2003) was a sound art piece where the characteristics of an object, a therm flask, are translated into sounds, in order to illuminate the item without light. It’s colour ‘deep orange’ is represented by a certain frequency intuitively corresponding to this colour. The materials ‘glass’ and ‘plastic’ have been recorded and manipulated to correspond to the visual experience of these materials. The shape ‘ tube’ and ‘rectangular’ are represented in the mix of the sound composition.

Exhibited in the “24hrs.!” design conference Eindhoven, NL, 2003. Also attending and performing have been, amongst others, Brian Eno and Alex Rose from The Long Now foundation, John Tackara (lecturing), Michael Landy.
